Library

Our internal documentation center on watchmaking and time measurement, the MIH library includes not only old and current works relating to time, time measurement and watchmaking in general, but also precious industrial or private archives, iconographic documents, press files from watch companies, specialized magazines, etc. This documentation is very complete and unique to its kind, widely used by Swiss and international researchers, authors of specialized publications, entrepreneurs, students and by the public interested in certain fields.

The MIH library is accessible to the public from Monday to Friday, by appointment only at the Study Center: cet@mih.ch

The main periodicals held at the MIH have been digitised and made freely accessible on The Watch Library platform.

Document library

With more than 5'500 documents, manuscripts, photographs, the documentation center a great place to start sourcing information for research.

The MIH documentation center is open to the public, Monday to Friday, by appointment at the Study Center: cet@mih.ch

Archives

The CET currently has more than 300 linear meters of documentary, on different supports, private archives emanating from natural or legal persons, which constitute the memory of watchmaking and the measurement of time. There are old archives, personal archives, technical archives, personal family archives and business or institutional archives.

Edition

The Musée international d'horlogerie has its own editions, the Man and Time Editions. It regularly publishes or co-publishes not only exhibition catalogs and prestigious works, but also historical and technical studies, conference proceedings, thesis and dissertations relating to the subject of Time.

Conferences

MIH plays a scientific role as an interdisciplinary exchange platform.

Studies and conferences organized or co-organized by MIH with other institutions and are open to a wide audience. They allow deepening themes related to the measurement of time.
